About Us
Finding Inspiration in Community
Village Family Collective is a passion project, born from a vision that all children and families in the Vernon area (and on this planet!) deserve to feel safe and warmly cared for. To know that there are options they can lean on when they are struggling to find care and support. Options that they can count on AND feel good about! More than just a service, it's a heartfelt endeavor to ensure that families with young children feel truly seen, safe, and deeply cared for within our community.
We understand that finding reliable childcare and support can often be a source of stress for families. That's why we've thoughtfully designed a system that brings convenience and ease to this crucial task. By carefully building a team of quality, compassionate, and community-minded individuals, we are confident in our ability to provide meaningful support and help bridge the childcare gaps that families in our community often face.
At Village Family Collective, our aim is simple: to work hand-in-hand with families, offering help and fostering a sense of connection. We believe in the power of community and are dedicated to nurturing a supportive environment where caregivers, parents and children can all thrive.

Our Story
Village Family Collective is the passion project of Anne McMeeking(Walsh). Anne's family moved around a lot in her formative years, so when they settled in Vernon in 1980, she knew she was home (and she has called it such ever since!). Anne grew up here, working in her parents corner store until into her early 20's, when she knew she was ready for a change. Deciding as an avid babysitter and someone who has always enjoyed children that she would do the Early Childhood Education program at OUC. Once completed, Anne moved back to Vernon and worked as a sub for family home care providers, in a small privately owned center and a large not-for profit child care center. This work led Anne down the path to Infant Toddler care and her passion was found! Anne dedicated the next part of her life to Infant Toddler Care, learning everything she could and enjoying her time with these children and their families.
Eventually Anne had a family of her own and things shifted for her. She moved on to working in Strong Start for School District 22, the Family Resource Center for the North Okanagan as an Early Years Program Coordinator, and BGCO as an Early Years Family Navigator. Through this work and her personal lived experience, Anne's passion for family support was formed.
In 2024 Anne found herself recovering from a knee replacement and realizing she was ready for a change, a BIG one! She allowed herself to dream, reached out to Community Futures and Work BC here in Vernon and the dream found a way to become a reality. Her dream of a nanny on the go type service found footing, a plan was created and here we are! Village Family Collective is from Anne for herself, her family, her community of fellow caregivers(young AND old!) and the families that are fortunate enough to call this beautiful city home.
